We're on Safari!

After landing in Nairobi, we immediately left for the safari company's office to get registered and ready to leave. We were a bit tired after flying all night (and arriving before 5 am!) but were still very excited about going on safari.

We started the safari in Sumburu park. Notice the mountains in the background--these will disappear later in the trip


Elephants were some of the first animals we saw--very exciting!!


Also Zebras--this one is a Grey Zebra, or the "Horse sized Zebra". They're huge.



And Oryx.....

and gazelles.....



And buffalo. Very different from the ones at Grandma's!


We saw a group of elephants crossing a river. It was really magical to be able to watch them move through the water





Finally, a hornbill sillouetted against the sky.
