Hello From Israel!

I moved to Israel in September (I hope I told everyone before I left. It's been a bit of a whirlwind. ) and I'll be here until May. I'm doing a project in the Negev desert as part of my Ph.D. I'm living in the Midreshet Ben-Gurion (also known as the Midreshet Sde Boqer). Sde Boqer is in the northern Negev--if you look on the map, you will see it in the southern third of the country, between Beer Sheba and Mitzpe Ramon. The Blaustein Institute for Desert Research (where I'm working) is in Sde Boqer, and is part of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, whose main campus is in Beer Sheva (please excuse the multiple spellings for place names. They've been translated in numerous ways)

I've created this blog so that I can hopefully give my friends and family at home an idea of where I am living and what I am doing while I am here. I'll update it as often as I can, and/or when I have something interesting to post.
